I.D. Guess ?

My nephew who lives next to me has a friend that inherited a tractor. The friend says that he is going to bring it up here since he has no use for it.

My nephew says he saw it on his trailer. He said it's a ford and it's blue and it's more of a compact tractor size like the small Kubotas. He also said it's diesel powered. It has a front end loader and a box blade on it.

Any general ideas on what this thing could be?

It is most likely a Kubota painted blue and badged
as a Ford. They were small three cylinder diesels.quite often with a front end loader and small backhoe.

Ford introduced a line of compact utility tractors in the 70's. They were (mostly??) made for them by Shibaura up thru the late 90's. With no more than you know it could be anything from 13 HP to 45 HP. Based on the description more likely an older and smaller machine but you never know.

Years ago a friend got a smokin' deal on one of those smaller Shibauras. He hunted for the steering parts that it needed for two years and then gave someone else a smokin' deal on it.

(quoted from post at 02:14:39 10/23/19) Well, my wife's cousin's, step-daughter's boyfriend has a brother with a friend who said to take some pictures to better ID what you have. We can't mind-read.

How about telling your wife's cousin's, step-daughter's boyfriends brother with a friend to read my post again.

THE TRACTOR IS NOT HERE YET, if it was, I wouldn't be asking the question, I could see it with my own eyes.

I don't follow the more modern Fords so I had no idea if they made a compact type tractor or not. That's more or less the fact I wanted to find out. I wasn't asking for details on it.

Apparently that is the problem. The CNH online parts store has all of the parts diagrams and information but for many models the chances of finding a dealer with what you need is slim to none. The only real parts support is from third party suppliers and many critical parts are simply NLA.

Thank you, that's exactly the kind of info I was looking for.

Toh,
Yes.
We see folks with those Shibauras pass
through the Ford Board fairly often.
Despite the huge knowledge base there on
the US, Basildon and Antwerp built
Fords, questions about the Japanese
built models often go unanswered.
And I know that many major parts -
crankshafts, heads, steering gear parts,
etc are made of unobtanium, even used.
I believe they were good little tractors
but they're getting to be long in tooth
now. With minimal parts support I would
consider one for the right price but
would look at it as a throw away
tractor.

OK, fair enough, but your friend could take pictures couldn't he? Colors mean nothing so IF your friend could supply a model number, he said it is a FORD, so whatever make it is, we could further assist you. Japanese built models in the 80's would be like a 1300. They were practically out of business before they started and parts are rare as hens teeth. The FORD name was gone my the early 1990's so we know it isn't a modern New Holland Boomer. CNH isn't much help as they want nothing to do with the past and only are concerned with selling the newer Boomers. You can't beat a FREE tractor but advise to do your homework no matter what you have and find out part availability so when you need them you can find.

Actually Tim,
I'd say CNH does pretty well with legacy Ford parts.
They are not inexpensive but they still have them.
I needed parts 16 and 67 to fix my pto this summer. I called in the parts numbers and my dealer had them in 3 days. I asked to have them added to their house order so didn't have to pay any shipping charges.
Not bad for a 53 year old machine.

Just a guess. Could be something like a ford 1210. 3 cylinder diesel. 16 hp. Pretty handy little tractor. I have one with a front loader, belly mower and
various attachments. There is some parts interchange with New Holland. Major engine parts are very hard to get.

(quoted from post at 14:42:57 10/24/19) Rest assured guys, I will post pictures of this thing if I ever get to see it.

Caryc don't worry too much about it. Your OP asked for a guess. It is not like you were making demands for a positive ID within 24 hours or you would start shooting.
