Hi Bruce, I've read a lot of the information here and have checked the casting codes, identification numbers and have found the following:
The motor was swapped out at some point and a 1944 9n motor put in according to the I'd numbers. I've checked the trumpets and other casting dates and none of them are close. I think I have a mutt. Lol. Just was wondering if anyone can roughly date this tractor of the 2 I bought. The other tractor is a 48 according to all the numbers and casting codes I found on that one. But this tractor is a bit of a mystery. I love the Ford n's and drove 2 while I was a teenager back in the 70's. I've always loved these tractors and finally bout 2 back in April of this year.

S/N's don't mean much, don't rely on them. Important items are: Front Mount or Side mount -you have a front. 3-SPD or 4-SPD. POSITION CONTROL. You need to get the Essential Manuals now if'N ya wanna be an N-Owner. I see a few things that make me cringe: Get rid of that rubber fuel line to start with. Use the correct/proper 1/4" steel line available at nnalert. What is that gizmo hanging off the alternator at the 11:00 O'Clock position? Unnecessary whatever it is. Get a download/copy of "75 Tips for N Owners" from Bruce. Go to our "HOW-TO'S" forum, ELECTRICAL, WIRING PICTOGRAMS by JMOR to download and see the correct wiring for any N, 6V/POS GRN or 12V/NEG GRN. Post more pictures - we can't help more until we see what you have.

Nice rubber fuel hose running by the exhaust manifold. Might want to replace that with a steel line before you have a crispy project.

Yeah I'm going to be redoing lots of
things on this tractor. Just wish I could
figure the year of it. The serial number
on the motor shows its a 9n 1944 but I feel
this is a replacement motor. the trumpets
are dated years apart on cast dates. But
it's a 8n tractor. Anyone have any ideas
by the pictures? Thank you.
