Digger had the typical sluggish symptoms of a restriction. Didn't realize the old unit would work so well. Next up I will be taking the pressure relief valve down for rebuild if possible.

You might want to consider replacing that with a modern SS wire mesh tank strainer:

In-tank wire mesh strainer

External Spin-On wire mesh strainer with 5 PSI bypass

I have used the Zinga 100 mesh spin-on's with good results. If you add a $10 vacuum gauge to the filter head you have an easy way to monitor the condition of the strainer media and identify when it starts bypassing and needs to be replaced/cleaned.
