2n spark plug wires.

I purchased a set of spark plug wires for my 2n without looking at how they are installed. I see a pipe/tube bolted to the top of the engine and the individual spark plug wires are sticking out holes along the tube over each plug. The holes look to small to even fit the ends of the wires into let alone figuring out how to feed them through the tube to the distributor.
Question is, can I zip tie them to the tube and run them to the distributor without figuring out how to feed them inside? Sure seems this would save a lot of time and headaches.
Thank you,
HT

Yea, you can do that if you don't mind how it looks. Or you can feed a coat hanger through the conduit, put a hook on it, tape all 4 wires together around the coat hanger, lube the wires up w/ dish soap or WD40 and pull them through the conduit w/ the coat hanger.

Do you wanna be an N Owner or not? I despise hackmasters. What are you going to do when you get something tough? Use bailing wire, soup cans, and duct tape? This project is not as tough as it looks. Get a good set of copper core wires, OEM-like if possible. Firing order is 1,2,4,3. Start with #4 plug wire -that's the longest and nearest the dash. Just go in order: 3, 2, 1. #1 on the carb-like cap is top left as you look at it, #2 is next, #4 is next, and #3 is top RH nipple.

I fed mine through the tube, distributor end of the wire first, then put the distributor cap boot on. I don't remember it being very difficult.

I don't know what a hackmaster is. Sounds like someone good with a sword. I've never been considered as someone to despise before but I'm only 75 so maybe when I get older I'll be more despised. As far as what am I going to do when I get something hard well, I'm gonna call someone like you to come out and fix it. I've had my 2N for 17 years and it has always and continues to be flawless. I just wanted to tune it up a little. I'm not remotely mechanical and only do things like oil/filter/spark plug changes. Anything else I call a mechanic same as I do with my vehicles.
Thanks for the diagram although I still don't know how I'm going to fish the wires through the tube and make them pop out over the appropriate hole over the correct spark plug. Think I'm gonna stick with the zip tie method. I'm not trying to make it showcase I just want it to run.
Thank you,
HT

Howard.Replace them one at a time.Start with #4 .cut the wire off at the plug connection, then strip it back 1" to 11/2'same with #4 (longest) replacement striped off at the distributor end.Twist te two wires together good and tape together then pull the new wire into the hole in tube, cut wire to proper length, strip end back 1/16" install brass end and solider it on. Do the same for remaining 3 wires.

Howard,
I guess I'm a hackmaster too.
This is from a post I made a few years ago.

"Fixing a teactor with an axe."

I had grabbed whatever tool was at hand and was scraping an old gasket off a timing cover when my pal Kenny stopped by.
He took one look at what I was doing, started to laugh and said "Boy I've never seen anyone fix an engine with an axe before."
I told him it is a hatchet.
He said "Yeah, a hatchet job for sure. Do those guys on the forums know what a hack mechanic you are?. Here, let me get a picture for evidence."

I'm not sure what I'll do to him yet but there Will be retribution :)

I purchase everything I need from Napa to make up my own wires. The sell the wire by the foot along with the end clips and the rubber boots for each end.

You can make them the exact length you need and thread them through anything. I always have everything I need to make up another wire or two should the need arise.

I purchased an elctricians fish tape 30+ years ago and it has more than paid for itself. It has pulled a lot of wires AND has been used for other unrelated things. At 70+ you may never get your full money's worth but it's only $12

Inexpensive Fish Tape.

Run the fish in through the hole in the tube you want the wire in and out the other end of the tube, tape the new wire to the end of the fish, lube the new wire, and pull the fish out along with the wire. Repeat as needed.

Howard, it's not really that hard to do. If I can get them in the tube, I'm sure you can too.
