Grease Boot on Steering Arm

I just noticed that the grease boot on my steering arm where it attaches to what I would call the bell crank attached to the steering box is split. I looked at my manuals to see if I could find any information on removing the arm from the bell crank and replacing the boot. No luck, no information what so ever. Can any of you shed information on how to remove the arm and replace the grease boot? Can I just replace the boot or do I need to replace the whole fitting? Where would be a good place to buy the required part(s)?
Thank you,
Old Bill

Three ways to get it off.

The ' textbook' way is to use a pickle fork. Comes off real easy with the correct tool!

The next way I do it is to pull up on the tie rod and whack the pitman arm with a hammer close to the end.

If that doesn't work after a few strokes is to strike the end of the pitman arm directly in line with the length of it on the round part that the end goes through.

The ends are all made with a taper so they will not come loose and it does stay tight because they are made this way.

What Bruce said with my variation. Before I knew what a pickle fork was I loosened the nut to a point it was flush with the end of the bolt. Then, I put a steel wedge between the transmission case and the bolt. Then I whacked the "pitman" with a hammer. If it did not come loose I might apply a little heat to the pitman. Never broke anything. I did buy a pickle fork.

Don't use a pickle fork damm its EZ to get them apart without fudgen up the part... Does anyone have any pride in their work any more fudge the textbook...

Boots dust covers I like the leather boots... If YT has'em that's cool if not that's not cool... The rubber boots got a bad rap installer error even then they did not live a long life...

The first link brings up something I've been trying to figure out for a while.

On the third pic down, it shows the top of the spindle arm. Is there supposed to be a grease zerk there? Mine are missing, and the holes painted over just like in that pic. But, clearly there is a need to
grease that boot?
