Leaking Lower Link, Right Side

My Dad has gotten too old to use his 1941 9n and is wanting to give me the tractor and implements. It's in rough shape but engine runs good, with no smoke. I installed an electronic ignition, new carb and starter on it for him in the past. It has several problems: exhaust manifold leaks badly (shouldn't be too hard to fix) and the lower right link pin going into the housing is wallowed out. It leaks pretty good. Is there a way to fix that with out major machining work? If I could fix that, I may decide to just keep it. Thanks for any info!

I m replying on my phone so will be short... the nut that holds the pin is accessible by either removing the whole axle trumpet (not that hard, only looks like it if you ve never done one) or *possibly* by removing your PTO shaft (four bolts and pull out) and reaching through the hole (forget it if you have meathook hands). I had the same prob and removed the trumpet. You ll want a copy of the FO-4 manual available from this site if you don t already have one.

Probably cheaper to replace the trumpet
than have any machine work done.
I would run a free ad in the classifieds
here. Lots of guys here have parts
tractors and would sell one reasonable.
They are an item that does not sell
often and usually go to the scrap man.
Use the old one as a base for your
grinder - or some such.

Recently replaced booth PINS as previous owners had stripped threads....

This Tractor "2-N" had sat abandoned for 30 + years...... we removed sludge from the entire common oil system..

Pins are held in with nuts from inside and taper fit the trumpet housing. If it's the same as an 8N you can remove the left housing and the ring gear and carrier lift out so you can replace both sides.
