So I have a 39 or 40 9N it starts runs for about 1 or 2 minutes dies. I try to restart might start for few seconds pop loud and die. I am new to tractor ownership so be nice!! I am sure this has been talked about before also but this is better than trying to find the old posts. I know there a lot of old tractor owners here who can help. Thanks everyone. It does have gas in it and bowl is full.

bowl is full".. you are likely speaking of glass sediment bowl, which is not the end result. Remove the carb bowl drain plug and don't just look for an initial flow of gas.......let it run and see if it will fill a pint bottle in 2 minutes or less. Bet it will not.. If not, remove the 90 degree el on fuel inlet to carb and clean the screen attached to it.

Welcome aboard! Like JMOR said, more to it than just the sediment bulb -SEE picture, two are screens on the sediment bulb. Did you open the fuel valve knob 2 Full Turns -SEE picture? Do you shut the valve OFF when the tractor is off? Perform the fuel flow test. The brass fuel inlet elbow has a third screen on it -SEE picture. The best thing you invest in right now is the essential owner/operator/parts/service manuals -SEE picture. Read the Operator's Manual to know the do's and don'ts of your system before you operate it. You wouldn't want to break something that may be an expensive fix and more importantly, you don't want to hurt or maim yourself doing it.
