governor on 8N

(quoted from post at 11:39:54 08/31/19) not the best mechanic. hpw easy is it to work on the governor of an 8n?? mine is sticking

hi mxr, and welcome to YT :)

i've never torn mine apart - only removed it to deal with a gasket leak - but from the discussions i've read about them, i'd rate them easy to work on.

one important thing to watch - they are held on by 2 bolts. these bolts are not the same length. when u pull them, make a note of which hole the longer and shorter one came out of. if u swap them when u reassemble, the long bolt will hit the timing gear and then you'll have a major job in front of u to fix it.

I'm not much of a mechanic either, but I've been into several of them. Make sure you have the manuals especially the FO4. Take pictures and
post back if you have questions. Once you get them apart you will see they are relatively simple. And follow the other post about the bolts.

Define "sticking"?

First, check that the linkage from the governor to the carburetor is not somehow binding.

With the engine not running and the throttle lever just above low idle the linkage should move by hand VERY freely.
