Fuel line routing

I took the hood and fuel tank off my 1950 8N side mount, 12 volt over 8 months ago and am ready to re-install it all. Problem is, I forgot how the fuel line was originally routed to the carb. Can anyone refresh my memory? Does the fuel line leave the sediment bowl fitting heading towards the dash or the radiator? How does the fuel line avoid the manifold? Does the line enter the carb from the dash or from the radiator? My fuel line seems to be around 3' long and made of copper with compression fittings. This may be an old line that was already attached to my temporary fuel tank. How long is an 8N fuel line? Any photos would be a GREAT help!

Thanks in advance for all replies!

I'll try and find a picture, but in the meanwhile, you need a new line. A copper line in and by itself is a fire hazard. And compression fitting will not work.

Best to just buy the correct steel line here or from nnalert's.

Are, if you want to try to fit one, get a flared brake line from the parts store and bend it ( with a bending tool) to fit.

Factory had cleaner bends, but routing is close.

tractorguy2, A copper line can work harden from vibration over time and that can cause it to crack especially at fittings.

Always get the right tool/right part for the job. Dennis Carpenter makes the exact-as-original fuel line pre-bent and also nnalert sells it as well -see LINK below. Never use copper, nylon, rubber, or plastic for fuel lines. Use common sense.

How about modern hi-tech PTFE, rubber, and stainless steel composite rated for conveying 3000 PSI / 450F fluids and gases

I dumped the OEM hard line some time ago in favor of this hose and JIC flare fittings. The PITA sediment bowl is on the endangered species list and scheduled for replacement with a SS Harley petcock which is already in hand.
