1942 Ford 9 N PERTRONIX Question

The instructions say to remove the SHIM WASHER from the distributor shaft and then later it says to install the SHIM WASHER onto the distributor shaft. Is this a reposition of the SHIM WASHER??? len in michigan some confused....

have seen that, but see no reason to do it??????????????????????

It also appears that the little round plastic dust shield DOES NOT go back into the distributor. Is that correct--or does it need to go b ack into the assembly.

I think they won't to make sure you put the washer back where it belongs...
