Dearborn 14-73 sickle mower

My dad just bought a Dearborn 14-73 sickle mower to cut hay with his 8N. Looked to be in good shape, but come to find out, it needs 4 special brackets, all of which are missing. Does anyone happen to know the part numbers for these, and have any leads on where to get these parts? Also need the male half of the pto shaft.

Any help greatly appreciated!

Thank you.

DEARBORN and FTO are no longer in business and many parts are no longer serviced, meaning no longer made. However many parts are made and sold by aftermarket companies for these old implements. You can try your local CNH dealer and the other Ford N-tractor site has the A & O and parts books for them under the MANUALS forum. I have a set of OEM Dearborn knives NIB for the mowers I'm selling. My emails is open.

Thank you Bob, those pictures and diagrams are very helpful, especially if we decide to fabricate ourselves (don't want to but that's ok). The instructions on how to connect the mower are also super helpful.

The parts and installation manuals can be downloaded from the N tractor club website.

The PTO shafts are not standard and several different spline types were used. I had several parts mowers, never got a single bracket or front part of PTO shaft and back part showed at least 3 different shafts used. And 20 years ago long time Ford tractor dealer did not know they even made a mower let alone anything about parts. I would say forget about trying to fix up that mower to use and get a newer one as you will have nothing but problems.

Does anyone know if the special mounting brackets for all the many different Dearborn model 14-X are interchangeable? that would sure simplify things.

Yeah, you are probably right Leroy, we should probably cut our losses with it before it costs any more money. Thanks for the realism.
