8n will not generally start using 6v battery. hook up jumpers on pickup and the motor starts instantly. Shut off and use 6 volt nothing.

It could be that you have poor connections on your cables or other ignition wires but I would also suspect that you may have low compression and 12 volts cranking
makes up for that and makes the charge in the cylinder ignite.Lots of worn engines will start with 12 volts cranking when 6 volts won't do it.

rue! Just as pull starting will do. Speed matters.

Is your battery fully charged? Is your battery any good? Are all your battery connections good and clean? That includes where the ground cable is connected to the tractor. Do you have the small 12 volt battery cables? If you do, thrown them away and get 2/0 cables. If all that is good, maybe your starter is getting tuckered out.

6V cables must be almost double the gauge for the same ampacity of 12V. Folks using 12V cables on 6V system often have this trouble starting.

Also, 6V systems are more prone to poor connection issues that 12V. Clean terminals at all ends, clean posts, clean top of batt, make tight connections. I have a 5 year old 6V battery with good cables, and clean connections and my tractor starts in a few turns, even after sitting for a month.
