I want to buy a new starter for my 1948 ford 8n. It has been converted to 12 volt. Should I purchase a 112 volt starter

Hi Bob, do you proof read your posts before sending? Just kidding. If you just need a bendix, then keeping your old starter is less money, but if you need both starter and drive, then the cost is the same for a 12 volt or 6 volt. I would definitely go with a 12 volt.

I would have your old 6 volt starter rebuilt, they work fine on 12 volts. Some claim they are hard on the bendix but I have not had a problem with my 2 8n that were converted to 12 volts and I an using the 6 volt starters.
