Yes, someone with an N tractor has actually done it! I personally wouldn t have, but I m very curious to see how long this repair will last:

Why would you do it? Must have a catastrophic event to cause the failure. Covered up for someone to experience grief
when it fails again.

(quoted from post at 06:50:08 07/23/19) Just dumb! There was no"repair" there.

Should be a lesson there about what may be lurking beneath that pretty paint when you go to look at a "restored" tractor. The quickest way to put me off of a potential deal is for the seller to tell me he/she just "rebuilt" the engine.....

was at a farm eqmt auction years ago and two older fellows were looking at the same tractor that I was eyeballing, and one said to the other, "Fern, you ought to bid on this one", and his response was "I ain't buying another paint job, burned once, but not twice".

Ended up buying a parts 8n five years ago and it was dropped and cracked the motor and bell housing in two pieces each. We just need the transmission gears and the rear end, but I'm sure that the guy wasn't happy when that happened (he was going to paint the tractor but it fell off the stands I'm guessing).
