I'm looking at an 8N on Kansas City Craiglist that I can see in the picture has a Sherman, but I can't tell if it's an over/under or just a step-up.Can someone more familiar with the location of the shifter take a look and see if they can tell which Sherman it is?

From my understanding, you can't tell by the shift lever. You can only tell by the color of the Sherman or by driving the tractor of by asking the seller.

There are 8 different Craigslist in Mo. not going on each to try to find Go on YouTube a punch in Sherman transmission and one of my videos should come explaining the differences in the handles

(quoted from post at 17:14:26 07/21/19) I guess I should identify which 8N I'm looking at.It's the one located in Houstonia,MO and priced at $1750.

why not post the link to it?

Cast iron shifter, combo.

Steel shifter with aluminum ball, OD.

Yes, there are rare exceptions.

The reason I don't post a link is because the only link I know anything about is on my log chains.

Anyway thanks for the help.guys.

As I understand it the direct and over use same style as direct under and that is a round rod, The combo under, direct and over use a cast lever.

Thanks Warbaby.........It's hard to tell from the picture, but I'm pretty sure you're right.I think I'll go take a look at it tomorrow.
