Hydraulic Lift

I finally got the rebuilt engine installed and running great (knock on my head). Three months ago, I installed a NEW hydraulic pump, lift cylinder and piston, no leaking cylinder anymore. Now my problem, when lowering an implement, the lift goes all the way up and drops like a bomb, no touch control at all, this is really a pain when using the bush hog. Can anyone please tell me what could be causing this and the fix. Any and all help is greatly appreciated.
