12 volt conversion on 48 8n

Purchased a conversion kit from parts 360 for conversion kit and nothing fit so I want to purchase from yt but their kit looks exactly like the one I just returned, I have a 1948 Ford 8 n front mount dist with no magnito I wanted to know if anyone purchased this kit from yt and whether it fit ok , last kit harness was too short and belt too short ,thank you for any advice

when you are sitting in seat, is your generator on left or right? Number of kit that you are considering?

Generator is on right side coil in front under water
pump , wanted full kit wire harness ,coil, brackets
and alternator

Should work if you can figure out the mounting bracket. The two I put on my side mount worked fine once I figured out the mounting brackets. Instructions somewhat lacking.

I put the YT kit on my '48. Only issue was the new belt supplied was too short but the old belt works fine. Frankly, I think you are doing something wrong if you say nothing fits. Changing to 12V was the best thing I ever did with yhis tractor.

Is the alternator away from exhaust manifold
enough , the last kit that was identical to this from
another company was pulling into manifold, thanks
for advice

Ditto on the belt. My girl came converted. I recently rewired the whole thing ground up, and used the opportunity to change to the larger alternator pulley and change out the bracket (both bought from this web site - awesome stuff). The old bracket was a homemade bent/broken version, didn't have enough length to keep belt tight, caused the belt to skim along the bottom of the distributor cap and would rub into sparky wires. The 44" B Series belt recommended on this (and all other) sites was too short. Went to NAPA and got a 45" B series and used the 44" to hook up an old sausage grinder to a geared down bench grinder motor.

Side note, before the pulley change-out, I used an A series belt. It would rub odd in the 3/4" pulleys and eventually start slipping.

The 5/8" B series is much better. Seems to run cooler and cleaner, and the new bracket give much much better clearance.

I bought the kit for my 2n last year from this site. Works good, but the instructions for the bracket are vague. I put it on by what looked correct by the instructions, but the belt was short.
The bracket can mount 4 different ways but only one is correct, once I found the right direction everything fit and lined up.

(quoted from post at 09:59:58 06/24/19) Great so belt won?t fit wonder if company ever
mounted one of these on a tractor

the belt in the kit fit once, I got the bracket right.

Yep, once the bracket is mounted correctly everything will fit and line up.

This looks very similar to the kit that I just purchased and installed on my 8n last week. I did find the wiring harness to be a bit short the way I wanted to route it, however I butt-spliced a couple of short pieces of wire where needed to make it work. I also just used my original belt since it was in good shape. I did have an issue with the belt appearing to be short initially but I loosened up all the mounting bolts, then put the belt on before tightening everything
and found that the lower bracket needed to rotate up toward the motor more than I originally thought. It all worked out in the end and she runs beautifully
