I had to get some things for the 8 from
Long Lane Tractor. On their web page they
talk about the Elenco 4x4 kitsfor the ford
tractors. Typed it up on Google and one of
the search results that came up was ford 8n
elenco kit. Then I found this pretty beast!

There was a guy who used to show a 4wd 2N at a couple of local shows. Haven't seen him in a few years now.
He made his own with a Jeep front axle.
It was a nice job.
Myself, if I wanted 4WD or FWA I wouldn't try to reinvent the wheel.
I would simply buy one of these.
They have all the Features that an N sorely lacks.

I have to agree with Ultradog here for more than one reason. First, an 8N is underpowered for an Elenco kit in stock form. Heck, even a 600 or 601 series is underpowered for an Elenco kit. Second, the turning radius is not so great with the closed knuckle on the early 4wd kits. Maybe that is still an issue with the late 80's early 90's example Ultradog posted. The old 4wd kits are neat as a wow factor at tractor shows, and even my ugly 860 with Sherman Napco kit still gets a few looks if I drag it to a show. But it is mostly retired now as I use a more modern tractor for dealing with winter snow.

You would really like one of those for sure. I think the 4630 with 4WD, mechanical shuttle, deluxe remotes, fold down rops, flat top fenders is one great tractor. For it's size and power, hard to beat. Easy on fuel, lots of good features in one of these. I've enjoyed the use of this 4630 to no end, it does everything around here and then some.
