Front tires ??

Hi, I need to replace the front tires on my 63 4000. The old recaps were 6.5 - 13. I was told 175/80-13 is the correct size. I see a lot of inexpensive trailer tires and only a few passenger tires. Are the trailer tire alright to use???

Yes they will work. But in the 22+ years I owned the tire shop I never seen a ford tractor with 13" tires on it. Most 4000's had 5:50- 6:00- 6:50x16 tires. If someone found 13" rims that fit you could have those.

Hi, thank you for the reply. I should have said it was a 4000 LCG (low center gravity). The wheels do look bigger than 13 inch? I attached a picture with a tape. Looks like 14 inch? Thanks again !! Tony

Those wheels are 13". The measurement is made from where the rim drops toward the center, not the outside edge. The actual exact measurement is made on the inside of the rim where the inner edge of the tire bead contacts the flat (sort of horizontal surface, when the rim is standing up). Jostle your tape a bit and see where the 13" lines up on the outside of the wheel (The actual measurement is maybe 1/4" less than 13 because of the thickness of the metal).

Hope this helps....
