Daily User Stopped Running Today...

I have an early 8N that I use almost every day. It usually starts great. It normally smokes a little but runs fine.

Today I had been using it to move some brush to the back fire. I had it sitting and idling for a few minutes and it shut off and won't start back up.

I am getting good fuel flow from the bottom of the carb. I haven't check anything else. What should I check next to determine why it won't start.

Thank for your help.

afeicht, Tou need to check for spark ,with a spark tester or a spark plug grounded to the head and see if you have good spark that will jump a 1/4".

I can try that. I did check and I have continuity through the
switch when it is turned on.

I have an 8N with front mount distributor. It is 12V.

I would check for voltage at the top of the coil to start with. Assuming you have voltmeter or test light.

afeicht ,If you have voltage at the top of the coil checked with a test lite as R Geiger said .With the teat lite hooked to the top of the coil, crank the engine over with the ignition switch on the lite should flash bright to dim when you crank it over.If the lite is steady the points are not contacting.remove the distributor to clean or replace the points. If the test lite flashes and still no spark the coil, cap or rotor could be bad.
