What is this part?

I am not sure if it’s a makeshift part as I couldn’t find it on the manual. It is next to the air cleaner.

It's a good thing to have. When working properly, it removes larger dirt particles and deposits them into that jar before they go into your air cleaner. Looks like you need to empty that jar and get it seated properly.

It's a pre cleaner it keep trash from getting into the air system and spits it out into the jar. From the looks of yours it's on a 9n/2n. Some replacement parts are
available from Dennis Carpenter. Here is one on my 8n which sits outside the hood.

Yep, as Kirk said, it is the CYCLONE AIR PRE-CLEANER, an optional accessory, never OEM Rouge factory installed, and not a makeshift part. You have the 9N/2N unit, Kirk shows the 8N version and the two do not interchange because the air cleaners are different. The 8N has the OEM side vent where the 8N unit fastens to. Carpenter repoops all the parts EXCEPT the base unit itself. It was designed so any 1/2 pint Mason, Ball, or Kerr jar could be used but came with an original Air Cleaner Services, the manufacturer, jar made exact by Carpenter as are all the other parts. You need a new bail and the large rubber gasket under the jar lip. BTW, the one pictured below Kirk's is NOT a Cyclone. It is the HARCO unit, a not-so-good unit. They didn't perform very well. Here's a scan of the original Cyclone 9N/2N Instruction Sheet from my collection.

(quoted from post at 21:19:59 03/17/19) Is this part an original part?

As Tim Daley told you early on Thursday morning it was an optional accessory, never factory installed, and not makeshift.

Right, I understand that, but once these parts came out to be put on the tractors, I don't know if I should keep that one or upgrade to a better one. Wanted to see if anyone recognized that one. Thanks :)
