8N distributor capl

This site sells Pertronix modified distributor cap for $28 and a regular distributor cap for $11. Other than the center post drilled and tapped for the Pertronix coil wire is there a difference? It"s worth it to me to have the drilling and tapping done, if that"s the only difference. I could probably call them on Monday but I think this will be faster.
Thanks, Tom/Idaho

I'm not aware of any difference, but that's only based on personal observation. Best rely on someone else for that info.

When you place your order, make sure to get the suppression plug wires. The module does not like the RFI produced by copper wires.

I"m changing from front mount coil to round can coil and will need to drill/tap the center on the distributor cap for the coil wire. The picture on this site of the modified Pertronix distributor cap shows the center already drilled/tapped and am wondering if that"s the only change or if there is more. The picture shows just the outside of the cap and not the inside. Bobs post that Hobo made reference (2-22-19)to also shows the distributor cap drilled and tapped.
Thanks again, Tom/Idaho

If you're looking to simply replace the distributor cap the Pertronix parts are ala carte. You will need the cap, the terminal and the coil block-off plate. The costs add up in a hurry, which is likely why folks modify their own.

The Pertronix part number for the complete cap conversion kit is 1247XTCONN. It contains just the cap conversion components and sells for ~$100. Part number 1247 will get you the bare Ignitor module for ~$80.

Part number 1247XT will get you the Full Monty with Ignitor module and Pertronix coil for ~$200.

Part number 91247XT is the the Ignitor II version of 1247XT and will set you back ~$250.

Thanks for that! I was looking at their site and did not see the cap conversion kit. They sure are proud of their parts.

It is not in their catalog - I came across it by chance. I would say more than a little proud
