Oil Routing Help

I have an 8N block on an 9N frame. When purchased, I never noticed that there was no oil filter or plumbing for it. Does it get routed from the governor to the filter housing and then to a "T" connection of the oil pressure line? The governor to where I think the line should be has a zerk (grease) fitting.

Oil leaves the back of the block to a "t". one leg goes to pressure gauge the other to the oil filter. Oil leaves the filter and goes across the front of the block to the fitting on the governor and drains back into the pan from there.

Except on early 9Ns where there is no oil line to the governor. As an aside, I have 3 9Ns with this set up and the governors do not show any
more wear than the three I have with oil lines to the governor. It is admittedly a small sample.

Where does the return oil go in these models? Mine lacks everything, trying to figure out if its even needed. Who knows how long it has non-filtered oil.

The oil line to the gov was added in 1941. Before that the line ran back into the block

I had an old red 9n that didn't have an oil filter on it. Guy told me he bought it that way, used, and didn't think much about it so he changed the engine oil every year.I would bet most of these old ford only get there oil changed every 10/20 years or went a new owner take possession.

Kirk, My 43 War model has no oil line going to the governor as the line was added in 1944 not 1941.At serial 167488 the front axle/radiator support was again updated to a stamped steel design that would be used on into the 8N production. A longer oil line was added to route the return oil from the oil filter through the governor for added lubrication.
