So i have a 1953 ford golden jubilee the was converted to propane by the previous owner. The tractor ran for years but then sat in a field for about 6 years. now the motor turns over, the points are correct, and the regulator/vaporizer is brand new, and i have compression in all cylinders. the problem is it will not fire up it just spins but never fires off cylinders, any suggestions guys? Also i was told that the carburetor because it was propane it didn't need to be connected to the breather is this true?

hi runner, welcome to YT :)

i don't think your fuel type affects the breather tube. u need the air coming into your engine to be clean, no matter what type of fuel you're burning. if you've disconnected it, i'd reconnect it.

u need to check your spark. the best way to do so is with an adjustable gap spark tester set to 1/4". if u don't have one, i'd suggest u get one. in lieu of that, take an old spark plug, widen the gap to a quarter inch, ground it against the block, and turn the engine over with ignition on. if your spark jumps the quarter inch gap, u can move on to other potential issues.

I would take the coil wire off dist check for spark.if ya get a white bluish spark
hook it back up. Pull all the plugs out, ground them and bump starter and check for
fire on plugs.Post back if all is firing or not.

Welcome to the forum!
I don't know the first thing about a propane powered tractor other
than it still requires fuel, spark at the right time and compression.
Have you checked the compression?

Spark is obviously easier to check so checking that first would be
a good start, but tractors that set a while can have stuck rings that
may need to be freed up. Cranking it without freeing them first
may have caused more damage that now needs to be repaired.

jubilee.runner ,So you have a Jubilee NON runner,Check your spark remove the coil wire from the center of the cap and hold it 1/4" away from the block and crank it over with ignition switch on and check for spark.Remove the plugs and put a teaspoon of motor oil or ATF in the cylinders and replace plugs. Then try starting it with a shot of starting fluid in the carb intake with the choke off and 1/2 throttle. Will it run on starting fluid, but not stay running?Problem with vaporizer fuel lock.Fuel lock vacuum line or hose hooked up?
Post back with what you find.

Propane . . . I envy you!
I have a Jubilee as well.
Could you post a picture?

The crops will love you because you'll only be putting out plant food (CO2) and water vapor. Your rings and cylinders will last forever and your valves, plugs and oil will stay clean.

Runner, you leave a lot of room for questions. The help that you can get here is only as good as the information that you provide. What does "spark is correct" mean to you? how much compression is "I have compression"? Your regulator vaporizer is new but Is it admitting propane into the manifold?

so im waitng on the shop and owners manual to come in the mail. I will go ahead and check the spark plugs but i will have to wait till this weekend to mess with the rings to make sure they are not stuck.
