Landscape Rake Idea (?)

I'm thinking of welding a collar onto the side of the beam of my Land Pride rake.

The collar can be to fit the tail wheel on my Ferguson Cutter.
I knew I left that new post I put on it, way too long for a good reason. :)

Anyway, instead of two depth wheels, a wide one in the middle of the rake. (?)

I could make the wide steel wheel from my Ford 110 plow work too I guess

thanks,
T.

It's been done with grader blades so it might work with a rake although two wheels would be better.

I think two wheels will be much more stable. One wheel will allow it to rock and dig in on one end. Thats if your lift system is as worn as mine.

Here is the one I built similar to what you are thinking about. I used wheels off of a Toro lawn tractor and fabricated the rest.

It works pretty well for landscaping and driveway maintenance.

I couldn't find a good picture of the blade but you can just see it behind the chipper. BTW I built it for my Cub Cadet Garden tractor class 0 3 pt hitch then modified it to class 1 to fit the 8n you can see in the last picture how I attached the class 1 to the class 0 frames. I made both the rake and blade originally 5ft and have since lengthened the rake to 7-1/2 ft. the blade is still 5 ft. Works for me.

I brought the front section off a junk Zero turn mower for $50 to adapt to my scraper blade I have just not got around to it... My landscape rake came with grader wheels that's what turned me onto the need to add them to my scrape blade... Its just a dream now but I sure like the set up on my rake... There were no wheels with my rake I had some off a old toro mower I need to install some bigger wheels tho..

We have been here before...

Harbor Freight has a good selection of various size wheels and yokes, if you have the means to fabricate the rest.

Thanks Kirk,

I was thinking, for ease of installing the wheel, having the wheel in front of the rake, which I've been wondering about too because the wheel could be riding over the gravel you haven't already spread.

But maybe if fill is left in piles, then I can back up to the pile and pull away from it.

Rob,

Granted two wheels would be better than one, but having a little bit of side-to-side rocking would still be better than no wheel at all.
My hydraulics aren't bad but are still in need of restoration
to cure the creep-down. :)

If I pick it up periodically and drop back down just till the wheel touches i can keep correcting it.

Thanks,
Terry

F,

Yours is the cat's meow all right. I'll keep my eyes open for scrap lawn tractors.

I've got a few old wheelbarrow wheels. . . .

Hobo,

Why are the Toro wheels too small?

I do remember this discussion from before but I don't remember anything about having only one center wheel.

Hey maybe a wide center wheel and at each end of the rake, just a floating skid made out of the pin loop ends of leaf springs to keep the ends of the rake from dipping down. (?)

Thanks,
T

Cary,

More like having the cash to pay the exchange, the freight and the outrageous cash grabs at the supposed "free trade" Canadian border.

Thanks,

Where I am at now Scrapping hard pack gravel I would like for the tines to just tickle the gravel. I am out of adjustment on the wheels the tines touch hard before the wheels make contact. I have to crank my top link to long to my liking this makes the tines want to dig in...
