8N Runs Well but smokes

I have an early 8N. I use it almost daily for small projects around the farm and business. It starts (almost) every time I try to fire it up right away. Including today in 9 degree weather.

My questions is what would cause it to smoke. Is it running too rich? Engine issues? It is fairly smoky while running, especially shortly after starting it up.

Thanks for any help.

White smoke would indicate it has a coolant leak, possibly the head gasket.Remove the spark plugs and look for one or two to be like steamed cleaned to determine what cylinders are getting coolant in them.

As Den said, white smoke normally indicates coolant burning.
If it were burning oil and still running good, you might get away
with it running like that for years. White smoke I would try to fix.
