This spring and summer I plan on starting some work on my 8N and also since I'm close to the Detroit border my plan is to make a few grocery list of parts every now and then and make a trip over to Michigan for my list, better choice of parts and price even with exchange. Just want to know if there is a good place for parts that anyone knows in Michigan? Plus will probably in the future asking what manufacturer of parts to stay away from, this is my first year and I know there is awhole lot of knowledge out there for the asking.
Thanks

Yep, as Pinball says, many new parts are made in Cheena today. Distributor parts are best purchased at your local NAPA dealer -they are all made in the USA or Mexico. STEINER TRACTOR is in Lennon, Michigan, west of Flint, at exit 123 off I-69. They are just a distributor of all the parts mostly made in Cheena. Years go when they were Grand Blanc Tractor Sales, they had a lot of parts cast and machined locally. I have a manifold on my 9N with their name on it. then the EPA made it so no US foundry could survive and most all were forced out of business. My advice: I'd say you don't need a trip to Michigan to get quality parts. Dennis Carpenter in Charlotte, NC owns a lot of the original Ford tooling and makes many OEM exact-as-original parts new and JUST8NS sells them as well. Most all other parts suppliers buy Carpenter's repops and resell with an added hefty percentage attached. Carpenter also sells the cheena stuff too but for best quality and prices, try them or JUST8NS. The money you'd spend driving to Michigan would cover shipping. Don't know what you mean by 'exchange' but there is no currency exchange rate from Ohio, Indiana, or Illinois, to Michigan.... ; > ) GRIN! AS also emphasized, ALWAYS use your original parts. They are better than anything made new today. If a part needs absolutely to be replaced, best to find another original and rebuild it. Get carb, distributor, water pump, governor, hydraulics, generator, starter, et all rebuilt. I can do your carb and Farmer Dan rebuilds distributors -has a few all set to go on his shelf right now. My email is open if you want more help...

RGR, I'm about 2 hours north-west of Detroit, but if you're looking

for used parts, I may have them. I'm just an old tractor lover, not

a dealer, but there is also a tractor parts yard near me that may
have what you need if I don't have it. With a bit of notice, I could

contact him and gather parts for you to pick up in one trip.

For reference, look for Ionia, MI on the map. I'm close to there.

a whole lot of those parts are made over seas. if you go to a parts store mostly likely the stuff they sell you will be from overseas but a lot higher than eBay. I have bought all my parts from ebay if I have the time to wait. never had a problem. if I need it quickly I use walts tractor in Mexico Missouri. They are very knowledgeable and they will ship. they have a good website. local owned by a farmer. check them out. They specialize in fords. lots of new parts and they have some parts tractors. hope this helps. good luck. norm

RGR Welcome, It is best to get your OEM parts rebuilt,or get used OEM parts that you need and rebuild or have them rebuilt. Not many replacement parts fit,or even work properly.Ask questions here for good honest answers, many good folks are here to help you for FREE;-)
