OT - Sold my F150 today. I'm gonna miss it

I bought it new in August 2008. Has 152K miles on it.
I can't count the tractors I've hauled with it.
Some it probably shouldn't have, weight wise.
So I replaced it with a 2018 F250 earlier this year.
Still have the '79 F350 as well.

These pics of the F150 taken last month.

3 nice looking trucks? I know the only thing difference in the old style is the head lights but the 79's was my favorite year. Did you have any problems with the 08 in the 10 years you had it Royce? In the spring I am going to buy a new to me F-150 and that is in year range I am going to look for if I can find a decent one.

We had a 2003 F-150, v6 and we used it for hauling hay till it nearly died. Something around the head broke which make the truck drink oil.

No major problems. Vacuum lines to the 4x4 hubs dried out,
EGR valve went bad once. On most of them the manifolds leak.
Mine hadn't started doing that yet, which was surprising.

I'm driving an '07 F150 that I bought new in June of '07. It only has 67 or 68 thousand on it. Replace spark plugs this past Spring before they got stuck in the heads with the Champion one piece plugs. They all came out but one. Fortunately it was the number 1 plug and I got it out with the Lyle extracting tool. Other then me running over a large rock and cracking the transfer case, I haven't had any trouble with it.

I went with gas. The maintenance cost on the diesels are quite a
bit higher and they're supposed to be left idling for 5-15 minutes
before you shut them off. They even come with a timer so you can
walk away and it will shut itself down. But I didn't want the diesel
exhaust in the shop where I work and park.
The F150 has hauled everything I asked it to, so the gas version of
the F250 should be all I need. I can tell you for sure the 6.2 in that
new truck will run circles around the 4.6 I had in the F150 and the
gas mileage is about the same empty. Better with the 6.2 when towing.

That sounds like a winner. I have a 2012 F150 with a reprogrammed EcoBoost. It pulled a 10k GVW trailer filled with my 8N (with loader) and all its implements plus a full bed from Iowa (~10 hours) with no complaints. By feel it was about all the truck could handle, though. If I had to do it on a regular basis I'd go with a bigger truck. My nephew has a Ram with a tweaked Cummins; he's always going on about the amazing power and the great mileage.... :D

I have no doubt that the diesel produces more horsepower and torque.
They get better mileage too, however diesel costs more per gallon.
But when an oil change is $165 and then add in the DEF hassle,
gas seemed like a better option to me when talking about new. :)

That's about the same reaons I went back to gas when I sold my '99 F-250 Powerstroke… got a '15 RAM 2500 with the "small" 5.7l 'hemi.' Pulls a load of hay or the stock trailer just fine, and much nicer on the couple 800-mile road trips I made with it when we moved my Dad to a dementia care facility a couple years ago.

That was a good looking F-150, I like that color of blue.
My F-450 is a Cummins diesel conversion I plan to use for many years.
If I do have to replace my truck it'll be with a gas model, way to much cost involved in purchasing and maintaining the new diesel pickups to justify buying one.

Yes, its hard to let them go, my Mrs. really hates when I spin out our older Suburban for a new one (she travels terrible roads for her work),but one we don't get rid of is my 2001 K2500, Allison Transmission, 8.1 (496), even thou I have a standing order of someone that wants it.
