I am trying to find out what type, brand oil or lubricant to use in the frame of the bucket lift. What is the capacity of the frame and is there a drain or should I drain the lubricant in the frame or just add to it?

There is a Vast amount of knowledge here
but we are not mind readers.
Maybe tell us what kind of tractor this is
on and what kind of loader it is.

Oops,
I see you did say it's on an 8N.
There's still dozens of different loaders that were mounted on these tractors over the years so we'll need more info.

As UD said, there could be numerous loaders on your tractor.

If it is a new to you loader, I would for sure drain the frame, change the filter if present, and if the oil did not look clean, I'd flush with diesel a few times. Strain the diesel thru a tshirt and run back thru.. Probably only need a couple/three gallons that way.

If it is a self contained system, you can use a cheaper single purpose hyd oil, or a better utf. Big it shares oil with the n, I'd go utf throughout.
