TSC Landscape Rake

Looking for a little advice. I'm thinking of buying this landscape rake from TSC. I have a lot of property to take care of. Right now it's pretty much all smooth dirt. But pretty soon that green tinge will start to appear when the weeds start to sprout.

I'm thinking that going over it with the rake at this stage will uproot them and stop them from coming up. It might take two passes to get the ones that escape the tines on the first pass.

What say you guys? Will this do what i want? I have been looking for an old one that is built heavier than this one but nothing is available.

I?ve had one for a few years now, I like it. If your dirt is hard
packed it might be too light, but I have used mine like you
intend and it?s been fine. If it?s too hard I hit it with the box
blade with the scarifiers down just a bit first.
Like you, I couldn?t find anything used, and finally went with
this, it?s held up great. I don?t abuse my tools.

It should do alright.
You might consider using it behind your 23
hp N and not the 40 hp Workbull.
One thing about it is new tines should be
readily available if you ever bend or break
one.

That one looks good to me...

It's also reversible 360 degrees. I think I'll get the wheel kit also. It consists of two adjustable wheels.

If you reverse it and try running backwards
with it you will do that only ONCE! LOL.
I have the gauge wheels but never use them.
I find it more effective to shorten the top
link all the way which makes it dig less
deep.
With the top link at it's longest length it
will dig more. But you probably know that
if you have a back blade.

I have had the same rake for a couple of years. Works great for loose dirt, gravel, limbs and such. Did bend it pushing a brush pile. My fault on that one. I used a big pipe wrench and cheater bar to straighten it out.

A few of the reviews are bad I would hook a chain on both ends to make a triangle and tie the ends to the front of the frame if I were to get mean with it. I can tell ya it will build up with dirt quicker than you think and damage it.

I borrowed one with the angle iron frame where the tines hook to right off the bat bent it. I straighten it out and immediately took it back to its home.

Have you thought about a chain link spiked harrow.

I got one a double spike harrow with a tractor I brought this summer I plan to rig up my boom pole to tote it around like the last pix in this link.

I also have a spiked harrow like Hobo mentioned. Mine is a ABI Attachment brand with a 3pt frame. Makes a garden bed or food plot really nice. Smooths it out and covers seed just right. The frame makes transporting around easy.

If you get one frome TSC, make sure all the tines are secured. I have one and when I got it I noticed all the tines were loose. Tightened them up, it werked a lot better and all was good.

I think most of those things are built by
King Kutter and just sold under the TSC
name. You could go to kingkutter.com and
they have pretty good parts support there.
Look up their rakes and and see what they
get for the tines.

i'll second the review for king kutter. i've dealt with them several times to find parts for my long out of production finish mower. their support is very good, they've always gotten me what i needed. not bad for something they haven't made in decades. i'll guess they're just as good with the current stuff :)

It could just be the photo, but the rake tines working ends look angled toward the tractor when at rest. (?)

My Land Pride has tines that meet the ground perpendicularly so that like UD said the angle of attack can be set by the top link.
right angles to the ground seems the most advantageous to me
but they must know what they are doing with the King one. (?)

Well, I purchased the rake from TSC. I got lucky, it was on sale at $50 off. I haven't put it on a tractor yet since I ordered the wheel kit for it. I ordered it delivered to the store and will pick it up as soon as they call.
