Oil filter mount.

I have a 1950 8/n it has 4 holes to mount the oil filter to block my friend has a 1952 8/n and it only has 2 holes why is there a difference?

1950 was a transition year from the front to side mount distributor. The side distributor requires the generator to be moved to the left side and interfered with the original location for the oil filler and oil filter mounting.

The four hole heads you mentioned will allow oil filter mounting for either a left or right side generator.

All 4 holes are on left side which head do you think would be aftermarket 4 hole or 2 hole? If I move filter back to allow more room for gen I will have to change both oil lines. I got this tractor with a lot of parts in boxes.

Bingo.

Aftermarket cylinder head useable for both front and side mount engines.

Should be 2 holes but unless your going for originality it don't matter.

No need to move it back if you are not mounting generator on left side. Does the block have the cast in bosses for mounting generator on left side? Front or side mount distributor?
