Uh Oh my 45 2N has no gaskets on my hydraulic pump

I was browsing my Stighner catalog today and noticed a hydraulic pump rebuild kit for a 2N. I noticed there are 3 or 4 gaskets on the pump. I had a flashback to when I cleaned out my gunky pump and crankcase that had been left outdoors and had lot's of water in it. It kind of snuck up on me in the shop so didn't have time to research a rebuild kit. Anyway there were no gaskets on my pump, so I assumed it was meant to be that way. My pump works fine and lifts my 600 # arena drag fine, but it does leak down if left standing. Now the question, what % of pump performance do you think I'm at just for no gaskets, 80% or so? I'm not going to take it apart with it working this good, but if I'm ever back in there, I'll do it properly.

if its not leaking a puddle of oil on the barn floor I wouldn't worry about it. The lift arms leaking down is probably a bad oil ring on the piston.

The lack of gaskets on the valve chambers is not causing the cylinder leak down. Two different animals. Your cylinder is worn and needs replacing. that is the reason for the leak down. You most likely have the original 3-Ring Type piston. As Dan said, if it ain't broke...Next time have the manual handy fo R&R and a parts list.
