I keep picking up this busted coil and going to throw it in the trash so played with it...

Mark it in this spot white dot and drill into it a couple inches. This is to locate the hole once you drill thru the bottom.

Flip it over and drill right beside the tang I used a end mill started the hole and finished up with a drill bit. You want to kiss the terminal post thats is were you are going to solider a wire to, to connect your coil wire.

I forgot to take a pix after I solderer the wires :(

I then just drillerd it out good to break the inside connections and to have a little room for the wires... The goop is plastic weld/epoxy.

Hobo,I found out that a couple days of soaking the inside with aircraft paint remover will eat that epoxy loose so the inside of the coil can be cleaned out.

Hobo, Thanks for posting these instructions and pictures, they are just what I needed. I tried gutting one of these coils a few years ago and it just fell apart, but it was a pretty old coil. I’ll try another one now that I see how you did it. I ended up just making a copy of the coil out of metal and made it work with the external round coil, but it didn’t look near as good as using the original coil and gutting it. Thanks again for posting, as pictures are what some of us need to be able to make it work.
