Hi all i'm having an issue with my oil pressure on my 9n as well as a throttle issue which both came about right after I installed a new Carburetor. So the problem is that after about 30-45 mins of running the oil pressure begins a steady decent downward reaching as low as 5. About the time oil pressure hits 20-25 my throttle linkage attached to my Carburetor releases and goes into the idle position and i'm stuck at the same throttle regardless of where i put the throttle lever. I wasn't having any issues with my throttle or oil pressure til i replaced the Carburetor after one of the screws became seized and i blew the head off of it trying to get it apart to clean it.

I've been told it sounds like I may have crankshaft bearings that need replacing, but it could be a laundry list of things.

Fix the governor problem. Once you can get the engine to run at 3/4 throttle check hot oil pressure. I will wager it will be same as it was prior to carburetor work.

5 PSI on oil pressure is dangerously low. Is that at idle or 3/4 throttle? Either way it's time for an engine rebuild. Why did you decide to replace the carb? By 'new carb' do you mean you replaced the OEM M/S carb with a POS Cheena made one? If so, did you just take it out of the box and slap it on without checking the settings? Once on, did you tweak it any? As John said, the carb has nothing to do with oil pressure. Seems you got the throttle linkage to carb bass ackwards or something. When you start up engine cold, what does the oil pressure gauge read at idle?

Carb change should not have caused oil pressure change. One: are carb links properly connected to the governor and the governor to the carb? Two: did you change the oil at the same time or has your oil been diluted with gasoline by chance?
I would drop the oil immediately and put in a straight 30wt. Recheck linkages: throttle rod to governor; governor rod to carb.

I ended up putting on the new carb because of a clogged jet. I had rebuilt the original once before but it was in pretty rough shape and while taking the original carb apart one of the screws was so seized up that the head snapped off so I figured I'd put the new one on and work on the original one later as I needed the tractor ASAP. I had tuned it after I put it on the tractor and the tractor does run nicely off the cold start. But once the oil warms up it gets low pressure. The only reason I mentioned the Carb was because prior to me changing it out for the new one the tractors oil pressure was at a constant 30 as you'd expect it to be when at a working temp.

Tim it is hard to say cause if I let it get that low the governor kicks the throttle down and can't open the throttle up or lower it down. It just deverts to where at screw on the carb is adjusted to. Probably closer to 3/4 throttle I'd say.

Tweak the governor once carb is verified to be OK... might be time to pull off and rebuild it???
