Atlantic Parts Quality

Seems like there have been a lot of problems reported with the Atlantic parts YT is selling. Does anybody know why YT switched over from TISCO to Atlantic?

I can happily report that I miced an Atlantic front mount distributor cam assembly that I received from YT last week and I'm satisfied. The top shaft measured correctly at 0.437". The bottom shaft was a thousandth off at .862". This will be going into a distributor with new bushings in the base and breaker plate.

We'll see how it holds up in use this season.

Atlantic distributes a lot of different parts - some better than others. Lot's of people have started selling Atlantic and my guess is the reason is cost. Lower wholesale = greater mark up = greater profit.

YTMAG does not manufacture the parts, they are simply distributing them. They simply contract with a parts distributor and sell whatever they stock. Distributors too only sell product, as the parts are almost always manufactured overseas nowadays. That being said, when issues arise, as they seem to a lot lately with a few brands, then they should be made aware as the company/supplier will not do anything unless made aware thru complaints.

My grocery store doesn't grow the produce they sell but if they continue selling me rotten tomatoes I will shop somewhere else.

I agree with you that it's about cost & markup, but honestly, if the folks on this board are a reasonable representative sample, most of us would be OK paying higher prices for a higher quality product.

I agree that it's important to register a complaint when there is a problem. So far, I've been lucky with the Atlantic parts I've purchased through YT. We all have a responsibility to provide feedback to parts retailers to ensure that parts quality remains high.

I just purchased an axle for an 8N. The axle would not fit into the differential....a few thousandth off. To make it worse, I did not check the fit before having the bearing pressed on. Junk.
