Today is the anniversery of the day I completed almost four years of twisting nuts and bolts on the KB29 and the KB50 air refueling airplanes. I joined in on Jan 11. 1955 and got out on Nov 11, 1958 two months short of four years.

While I certainly thank all of our vets, I think that I am most in awe of the millions of men and women who have served since the draft was abolished. Our all volunteer military deserves far more than we have provided, when you consider the numerous adventures we have sent them on, and none of them had to be there! I read that fewer than one percent of our population serves in the service, Well shame on the other ninety nine percent who wonít pay the taxes to fund adequate care for these courageous individuals. I hope that there is a special part of heaven for those dumb enough to volunteer, and that the rest of us only get to look over the fence at how nice it is.
Donít call me sir, my parents were married!

I, personally have spent 'bout 10 yrs. alone.

Recently I made a re- acquaintenance, again, with an 'ole highschool sweetheart.

Her deceased husband of 1 yr, four seasons, was also a veteran, sorta like me, local PA. National Guard.

Their pet dog, Bentley, is sitting on an office chair next to me while I am writing this reply.

I consider it important that the HER family's dog and I "bond" together a little, here, right now.

I promised HER husband that I would watch over HER during her hip replacement surgery in about 10 days.

Thank you for your service, Zane.

Today, I attended the estate auction of my neighbor and good friend who passed a couple of months ago.

Clarence was a flight engineer on a B-29 in Korea.

He completed his missions without incident aside from a single engine fire.

After the war, he returned home and married his HS sweetheart who had been working for Crosley in Cincinnati, OH while waiting for him to return from the war.

They raised six very good kids and sent all 6 of them to college while Clarence worked as a laborer in a local distillery. His wife, a very hard worker at home, never worked outside of the home. All 6 of his kids turned out very well.

I am proud to have been considered a friend of Korean War Veteran Clearance, who was also a Ford tractor collector.

Thanks to you and all others that served. BTW I pumped fuel into the USAF and transit bombers, fighters and tankers in the mid 60's.

I know you used a gas mask so as not to breath any of that Benzine. :O)

That purple stuff is what our bombers burned. About one hundred yards to the gallon!

Thank you gaspump for your service.
