I just received a toolbox I ordered for my 8N. I had an idea that these mounted in the battery compartment, but I see no way to mount it in there. Where do you guy's have your toolboxes mounted?

In this photo of Steve Dabrowski(CA)'s excellent early 8N restoration project, you can see the one toolbox mounting bolt hole on the rear lower right dash panel - about 7:00 O'Clock just underneath the wiring to the ballast resistor...the other mounting hole, as I said, is on the battery tray, just follow the toolbox drilled holes and you'll find them. Many farmers removed the toolboxes and the battery covers because they made access to the battery easier. I never cared for externally mounted toolboxes. I've seen ammo boxes, ho-made boxes, and aftermarket boxes mounted on fenders, radius rods, and running boards and they never last, either in the way, or get ripped off in the field. To each his own...

The tractor is a Ferguson it may be diesel,

I just saw the tool box mounted in this location as an option

My TO35 Ferguson has the tool box mounted behind the fender out of the way, has worked well for years,

I'd probably scrape it off my tractor the first time I used it to mow off some weeds.

I always thought this was a good location (handy) for a tool box.
however, it might not last long if you did a lot of driving in the woods

I'll look at the battery compartment again. I did see a wire harness clip fastened to the back side of the dash about where the top hole is in the toolbox. If I remove that it will probably make more sense to me. I looked at mounting it on a fender, but decided against it. My next choice was on the left side of the hood close to the dash. It won't hurt anything to mount it there, because the hood is trash anyway. It has two rust holes in it along the molded edge. It will look odd with a perfectly painted toolbox stuck on the crappy hood though.

Yes there are two bolts that mount the 8N toolbox. Set it in, align the holes and you'll see one is on the battery tray the other on the back of dash panel...pretty straightforward basic stuff...use my picture in previous post as a guide..

I bolted it to my fender after needing a place for a voltage regulator. I had to add about a 4" long plate to get it over the height of the lift arm. Works good.

When I bought my first 8n it had a tool box above and aft of the battery. It is somewhere in my shop gathering dust.
