U water pump seal

Quick question- does anyone ever put any lube of some sort on the new water pump seal? I never have before, but wondering if I should. It's the seal on a g.

NO. Lube is in the carbon seal. Don't know if you machined the hub surface where the seal mates to ( good idea ) especially if it not too flat anymore. It may drip for awhile. Till it wears in. Be sure your weep hole is cleaned out so it doesn't leak water in the crankcase.

At one time there was waterpump lubricant that was added. MMDel may remember.

You are right they used to sell water pump lube to put in the radiator. I don't know if MM ever used it or talked about it in their operator or shop manuals.
