G1000 Vista Steering Gear Housing Leak

Hi, I recently noticed that there is oil being pushed out of the breather on the steering gear housing (see attached pdf). Thinking about this and after checking the dipstick on the housing which was over full, I've had to top up the power steering pump lately. I think I have oil by-passing internally in the steering gear housing which is where I am losing the power steering oil and the oil in the housing is eventually coming out the breather.

Does this make any sense and if so, what do I need to do to fix this? What type of oil is supposed to be in the gear housing?

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

I think you are on the correct path. There s orings on the steering piston that will allow steering oil to leak into the housing.

You will need to pull the front bolster out of the side rails to get access to the steering piston and orings.

My jetstar does that. I installed New piston o-rings and leather cups/rings and it still did it.
