MM Oliver crossovers

There's an MM collectors magazine isn't there? Prairie Gold Magazine or something?

I just wondered if they ever covered the crossover tractors? The newest Oliver Heritage covers it again, so if you
don't know the story, you might want to pick one up. Beginning in 1970, White Motors offered every model of MM,
painted green as an Oliver and vice versa. There was a similar article back in 2010 too. That one even talked about
the Oliver 1850 being offered as an MM G940. I saw a piece of literature on those one time. They had to be almost
nonexistent. That older article mentioned the Fiat G350 and 450 as well.

The feature tractor in the new Oliver Heritage was the 2055. It was a one year tractor in 71 that was a G1050
painted green. Only 26 were painted as Olivers. Only five of those were flat nose, the rest were bubble nose. They
talked about an experimental G750 that was to replace M670, but it was abandoned and the Oliver 1655 became the
G750 instead.

The hard feelings that crossover debacle caused were intense.

Here is a picture of the MM G750 (M670 Super) model. Would have been a nice addition if it would have went through.

They pulled the plug on a lot of nice stuff. The Oliver 2200 looked like it would have been a real game changer.

Roger and I were talking about them after the last club meeting. I started looking for that 2010 article a few days
later. I didn't have to go through too many issues to find it, but I did find three other issues with some
reference to crossovers in my short search. One even showed that G940 brochure. With the 1855s bad reputation, I
can't imagine any of those being made. I suppose there must be one or two out there somewhere though.

A buddy of mine who is a MM guy and was born in 1974 wanted a tractor from his birth year. So last month he bought a G-955. I got to drive it last week. Me being a Oliver guy, I understand the operator end...

Sherry mentioned that she didn't know if all of them were painted at the factory or if some were painted by dealers. Kinda like my Cockshutt that I repainted Oliver green.

Drove by a ag dealership in Stewardson Illinois Saturday that had a 1850? Oliver sitting on the lot with the White logo on the nose of it. Looked well used. Maybe should have taken a picture.

1855 maybe. I misspoke when I said the 1850 was made as a G940. It was the 1855. I went back and tried to edit and it wouldn't work, but ya, they made the 1855 right up until the White 2-85 and 2-105 came out. I think that made them in the red Heritage series too.

Beautiful collection. I think I remember you looking for a G450 FWA a few years back. The 940 had to have been about as hard to find as the 450 wasn't it?

Ya I do. We were up there in August and bought an Oliver 600 in Suttons Bay. We went over to Grayling that night. I was thinking about you when we went across 72.

Some of my fields are on 72. Any field that touches 72 that has a center pivot on it, is mine. My farm is 1 mile south of 72.
