Afternoon

I recently rec a BigMo 400 (bucket/Backhoe)

The Brakes are gone or disconnected?

Are there any pictures and p/n available to see what could
possibly be the problem?

thanxs

The parts book has pictures of all the parts, usually the inner seal is bad and they're soaked in oil, common problem. The whole tractor is the same as a 4 Star, etc with the exception of the front axle and the rear wheel centers. My email is open, I can send pictures of the pages, probably not until Monday sometime tho

Thanks..I may have a bigmo 500..
Would you know where the s/n is located??

The plate that has the model is on the bucket and is
Very worn..

Pics would great so when I climb under it in the yard I
Will have some idea what to look for...the pedal goes straight
Down without any resistance..hope it is something simple

power steering doesn't work as well..very hard to
Steer without it

serial number plates are about 3x5, The one for the tractor is on the right side of the transmission, below the brake pedals, the engine plate is on the side of the engine, depends on the model which side, the same size as the trans plate.I have a book which can determine the tractor year and can also determine the year of the engine and what it was originally installed in. I have a Jetstar 3 Ind with a 206 engine out of a 1957 445 tractor for instance

Ok...I will look around...there are very few if any in my neck of the woods..
I will keep you in mind. When the time comes

I'm guessing you want to know of the location of the serial plate on the Big Mo 500, it should be the same as the 400

16800007 is the 7th Big Mo 500 made (1960). Nice looking machine. The 21400730 is for the L500 loader attachment. The backhoe will have its' own number too 215XXXXX.

Morning John

I found the numbers of the MM and was wondering if you looked at it..
Wanted to know if you had a brake assembly diagram.

Thanxs...l looked at one of them regarding brakes

Those brakes seem much different then What I am used to seeing
Like on case tractors...but I am no expert when it comes
To this

I guess I will know more when I get into it as it gets warmer
Outside

Hoping I can still get parts for the brakes

Thanxs again for all you help

Afternoon

With alittle help from everyone, it looks like I have a Big Mo 500 from 1960
or maybe 1959

Does anyone know or could recommend a good parts book/manual for this tractor?

Tractor should be the same as one of these

Your tractor is a 1960 model. Big Mo 500 were not built in 1959. Reprints of parts book R-2060A and operators manual S-273 are available from Floyd County Museum in Charles City, IA. You might also pick up an Intertec (I&T) MM repair manual that covers basics for all MM tractors but it won't cover the Big Mo 500 specifically. Jet Star info in that manual will be very similar for many areas of the Big Mo 500.

thanxs...I had some paperwork from 1959...I realize it is from 1960
but you cant always be too sure.

I done some checking and so far there is isn't much on the BigMo series
in terms of manuals.

If anyone has a part display or diagram of the brakes plz pass it on

thank you everyone

I have the parts book for mine. Need to keep it but would be happy to try to help you look up part stuff. SN on mine shows it to be a 1961. I think :).

Thank you...got so many projects in the yard going on at the same time,
a pic of just the brake assembly would be great.

My hope is, it is just a spring or two or a pin that broke or
fell out.

I did look around for another MM in my area but nothing at this
point...very few if any. If you send me your email/#, I can contact you
when I am ready.
