I hope to be starting restoring my RTU next week. After I dig out of this next snowstorm! Its in pretty good shape it basically just needs to be painted. Does anyone have the PPG codes for the yellow and the red colors?

A few years ago I asked the same question, and asking for paint codes or the proper color opens up a huge can of worms, the MMCI had a paint committee that matched colors from old cans of MM paint and with the help of Sherwin Williams they set on a list of colors. Again this is still up to debate by many collectors.

The paints are the Sherwin Williams AIC line and you have to get them from either a SW Automotive paint store or from Stamm Tractors sells the paint too.

Being a 1945 tractor your may have been painted the holy grail of colors PG #1, this is another point of debate.

Again this is just a starting point, I respect the work the paint committee did and I think the colors look nice. So in the end paint the tractor what ever color of PG that makes you happy with it.

I have enclosed the SW paint code list I got from a SW AIC Store

Kirbster has you steered in the right direction. I have used this paint on two of my tractors, specifically prairie gold #2. I used the polyurethane instead of the enamel and they still look good and I get a lot of compliments on how well they show. Painted the Z in 09 and the R in 11 so they are showing some age but the paint has held up extremely well I think.
These tractors dont see field work anymore but I wouldnt call them pampered either. Theyve been to many shows and Lord knows how many children have had rides on em. This is what has worked for me. DP

For my paints I go to Finshmaster. They can cross those paint numbers and mix it different brands. I use urethane paint and epoxy primer on mine. I get all my paint supplies from them. They can also scan a piece that you have to match it if you want.

Thanks for the paint info. Ill have to do a little more research on what yellow to use. Id like to stay with PPG because that is the paint I am familiar with, and I have all the thinners and hardeners. I should be able to come up with the right colors with the numbers and info you guys provided.
