Wiring question

I'm trying to sort out the wiring on my 1945 RTU. Over the years it has been cobbled and jerry-rigged by who knows how many people, including me.
My question is--was the push/pull light switch originally set up for high and low charging, in addition to the lights? There are 3 different positions on the switch, and the lights don't come on till it's pulled all the way out. Plus, one of the wires from the generator appears to go to the light switch. The tractor currently has a voltage regulator on it. Don't know if that was always the case.
Just trying to figure out what I've got.
When I first got the tractor many years ago it had a WICO distributor on it. I switched it to a magneto a few years back. I have no idea what was on it when it was new.

I am almost certain if it is a 1945 it originally was a mag. On the Light switch, the wire to the gen field was to make it charge more if it wasn't being run for long periods of time. This is the first position out on the Pull Knob. The gen would have had just a cutout. Charging rate was determined by the third brush in the gen. But if you now have a regulator on it none of that maters.
The second position out was dim lights ( And I mean REALLY DIM ) and all the way out was Bright lights. (Not really).

After taking a closer look and pulling the cover off, I realize that it's NOT a regulator after all. I just assumed so because it looked like one.
Does anyone have a wiring diagram showing a cut-out? I've got several showing regulators, but none with a cut-out.

And, yes, I know it's not in the normal location. It was moved many years ago, because it would not clear the hood when it was mounted to the generator. I suspect that is probably not the original generator.

Rich; You are right when you said cobbled up!!! What it looks like what you have there is someone stripped a 3 Pole Regulator and just used the cutout unit, which would work. The stock cut out is only the size of that one unit. I would hide that and mount it under the hood somewhere. But a new cut out is not that expensive, and will probably fit on your gen. An old R operators manual should have the right wiring diagram.
