M670 steering

M670

New User
I have an M670 (non super) with the splines worn badly at the steering valve shaft where the u joint yoke goes. Is this shaft still available? Anyone ever repaired one?
Thanks

A good machine shop can make you a shaft if you have a good splined yoke you are going to use with it (they use the yoke to check the fit of the splines). I had a couple made for mine
several years back. The new yoke was available from Agco yet at couple of years ago but when I bought one they were $75.

Since you are going to take it all apart, fix it right Have the housing machined out for a needle bearing to fit the shaft. I think 1" with out checking. And also for a LIP seal on the end. Eliminate the O ring. It will turn easier an hold the shaft firmer for less wear on the splines in the future.

Never thought of putting a needle bearing in the housing there. That is a good idea. I'm still waiting for the book of secrets on
MMs Delbert.

The problem is I am a lousy writer.

PS But in response to your comment. It saves wearing the housing and you can salvage an old housing by fitting it for a needle brg. And the lip seal is better, because when the housing wears the O ring won't hold fluid.
