Unrestored UDLX

Hi everyone,

New to Minneapolis tractors here, not new to antique tractors but came across a UDLX recently and had to have it. They really are a bizarre machine but beyond cool! I'm curious as to how many unrestored/survivor UDLX's are remaining? I imagine the majority of them have been restored at least once over the years.

Is the correct tire size for the front 7.50-16? I see a fair bit of them have smaller front tires and it gives the tractor quite a rake, old factory photos I've seen aren't like this.

Also looking for some UDLX parts, bit of a stretch but I am looking for an original front bumper, a pair of original headlights, and a grill badge. Must be unrestored condition. Even if the parts need work I am interested. Let me know what you've got. In need of an operators manual as well... repro is fine

Thanks!

Welcome to the forum!

I believe there is someone on this site who has a lot of info on those tractors--how many there are, who has them, etc. They keep pretty close track of those. Hopefully he'll chime in here soon.

We'd love to see pictures of yours. You may have to scroll down to "Site Comments" and ask for permission to post them, as you are new here.

i know the UTS has 750x16 front tires. be nice to see a picture of this unit. maybe you found the needle in the big straw pile.

I found my list, made years ago, that shows 78 known UDLX/UOPN,I know there are many more than that, we would certainly be interested in your serial number as someone in the MM world is keeping them listed. I think there are more than 90 presently listed

Hemmings Motor news published an article some yrs back in which they said there was 78 known UDLX's still existing. They thought there was 25 - 30 restored tractors in operating condition. Mecum auction sold a UDLX last June. In there advertising they claimed there were 25 -30 UDLX in restored, operating condition There is another poster on here from MO or KS that has a serial number registry of UDLX's restored & unrestored. I think he has in the mid or high 60's as the number still left in existence.

Thats me that was keeping track of UDLX MM's which I have done off and on since 1976...I havent really added much in the last 3-4 years.... I currently have (92) tractors listed counting several parts ones..If we could get the serial number for everyone of them there might be close to (100) of them still left...

Thanks for the info! Serial number on this one is 310514, looks like it has been accounted for from my previous searching. I recall there was someone who may have had 100 or very near to it on their list but has since passed away? Out of 150 that's a pretty good survival rate for something of this age. I'd be curious to know how many have never been restored and are not in need of a full restoration. I will get a photo up soon here.

Sorry for the delay, been away for the past couple weeks. I have uploaded a photo, hopefully it works!

1206SWMO, do you know the date when it was added to the list?

These are such neat tractors, can't wait to go for the first drive!

No worries there, it is going to be staying as original as possible. Zero intentions of painting anything on it, the front bumper is a reproduction and I would love to find an original. Even if it needs straightening. The paint and decals is quite good especially considering the age, the factory must have used quality materials as it would've spent some time outside.
