power steering pump/valve leaking

I have one more leak to fix and the Jet Star should be all ready to go.
my question/problem is this.
the power steering pump/valve body (?) which has 4 hyd lines leading in and out of it is leaking. This leak is coming from a small hole in the rear center of the pump/ valve unit this hole has a small L shaped wire protruding from it.
the leak weeps out of this hole very little while the tractor is sitting and considerably more while the engine is running but not a lot.
I cant seem to find anything out about this hole and wire in any of the manuals, shop, parts, owners.
Wonder if any one can shed a little light on this for me and how I might fix this the leak?
Thanking you an advance!

I did this on a M602 a few years ago, orings were old and hard. So went to a dealer and bought new orings. The hole and wire is more less a breather area so the spool can move back and forth freely.

Hopefully the o-rings will fix it.

If the spool or body is damaged, it won't.

I got by on my Jet2 by plugging that hole and drilling the web of that back plate with two intersecting 1/8 dia holes at 45 degrees so the oil that leaks out the end of the spool goes back down the return line. Now it does have a small tendancy to turn the wheel to one side or the other, I can't remember which. It is not a problem if you are actually operating the tractor. It may turn to one side if it is sitting there idling. Any leak on the other end of the spool goes into the steering gear which may be a problem when it overflows.

I just want to add: If you do this to yours, you do it at your own risk. Try everything else first.

Just to add, I know the M5 had two different valves they used. Not sure if the Jet Star would have so make sure you have your serial number when ordering parts. I think the main difference was where a washer and O ring were placed on the spool.

As others have said. Take apart and replace the O Rings on the main spool. But be very careful when replacing the spool, the lands in the housing are very sharp. Lube the O Rings liberally and install gently. STP is a good lube, if it is still available, vasoline, or trans S A E 140.
