a good evening to you all,
After about 8 months or so I finally got my Minneapolis Moline Jet Star running, painted up, and ready to move out of my garage and put it to work, or so I Thought.

took it out on a shake down cruise to the local gas Station. first time it has been run for more than a couple minutes. on the way home while stopping at a stop sign and ideling the engine down I noticed the oil pressure gauge down around 0 ZERO, gave it a little gas and the oil pressure gauge responded incresing the oil preasure directly in time with the with the increasing RPM of the engine. This is the first time the tractor has been up to normal operating temp. the oil pressure usually goes up to around 20 to 25 lbs.and stays there

kept an eye on the gauge the rest of the way home, and as long as the throtle was above an idle the pressure gauge stayed between 20 and 25 PSI. Is this normal?? had an 8N prior to this and it seems to me this was addressed in the 8N section and the answer was, at idle it doesnt need the same amount of oil preasure and not to worry to much about it. However this was some time ago and I dont know if that statement is accurate or not.

any body else had this happen, and what course of action needs to be taken if any???

Those engines should be able to maintain 20+ psi at hot idle. Check that your gauge is good first. There is an adjustment screw on the oil pump to turn up pressure. Can try adjusting that next. If you still can't keep pressure at idle it would be time to open up and see why.

What are you running for oil? If you put high detergent (HD) oil in an engine that has sludge built up it it, the sludge can come loose and clog the oil pump pick-up screen.

Im running Shell Rotela 15w 40 for oil.

When I got the tractor it was SEIZED UP big time.

Tried all kinds of stuff to free it up but but couldnt get
it freed up.

I tore it down and the jugs and head were dropped off
at the local machine shop. They pressed out the
pistons out, did a 40 or 42 thousandth over bore on the
jugs cleaned the heads and checked them out. Put In
some new valves. Replaced pistons, wrist pins, rings,
connecting rods etc. Meanwhile Im in the garage at
home and working on the rest of the tractor cleaning
up the block inside and out

I was wondering if the oil pump is working, as there
was a lot of water in the crank case and transmission

This tractor had been sitting out side for 8 to ten years

Wonder if the water got into the oil pump and froze in
these Michigan Winters

Am sure you are doing main bearings and seals are that far into it. Take out sump and clean passages. Mic out crank.

Pulled the oil pump and pulled the screen cleaned all the parts involved. Put it back together with the proper filter. Ran like a champ speed up, slowed down, stopped and idled oil pressure gauge never moved
Thanks for your help

Heres the best I could do with the pics or I think they are here and I know the colors may not be correct and the decals, but guess it will have to be OK
