Hello. Does anyone pull a ub special ?
Thinking of building one. Can they make
5500 with pressed steel? Thinking of going
With a 403, easy to get 403 ring gear in, or will
There be lots of grinding like a U? Thanks

I put a 403 in a U From a GB. There is some grinding on the Flywheel. And bell housing. If I was doing it again I would have a light billet flywheel made. And use a common clutch from a 4x4 pickup. The Special front end is heavy. I would build a lite wide front with a rack and pinion. And just use the grille.and hood. Foot clutch and setting up higher I like. Then look for 800 blocks and heads. Moline heads shroud the valves bad. So get the highest compression ones you can. And adjust compression to at least 12 to 1 with your pistons. Above all have fun. You only go around once.
