New to MM, UN questions

Evening all!
So last week I acquired a basket case of a UB tractor. There is a good reason it was parked in the weeds however many decades ago.

I have a IT manual order for it, not here yet.

In 2000, it was drug out and work was started on rebuilding the motor. Around 2005, they did get it running but water was getting in the oil.
This is what I know, heads are good, both jugs are good(both were replaced, and tested). Again, Im completely unfamiliar with Molines. Chasing this water leak, Ill replace the head gaskets and the gasket between the jug and block. What is there in the water pump to look at? Are they rebuildable?

Motor was completely torn down and rebuilt. From one guys memory, he thought the governor was shot also. Are parts available for the governor?

Right now I dont even know what I dont know with this tractor. I hope to get it up and running like a Swiss watch and keep her in her work clothes.

More than likely it is a water pump problem. That is the most likely problem when there is coolant in the crankcase on a U or G series engine. The water pump is gear driven, hence the connection between the two. There is a weep hole in the housing between the pump and the front cover plate. However it is usually plugged up with grease. Take a stiff piece of wire and scratch under the area just to the rear of the pump. If you get moisture to drip out of there, you found the problem. The water seal needs to be replaced. When you get your shop manual you will get a better idea of what I am talking about.
Some one spent a lot of time and money for gaskets and testing for nothing.

Oh no, this motor was stuck and in desperate need of
overhaul, money wasnt wasted on that.

It doesnt appear they worked on the water pump.

Thanks for the info. Im sure Ill have more questions
when I get into the motor.

If you end up needing parts I have salvaged out a couple U's and UB's. I'm in Jordan, MN so probably not very far away.
