application of decals

I am finishing up painting an M602. I have watched several youtube videos on applying decals and like the ones that wet the surface and the decal upon application so that it can be slid around a bit if necessary to get it properly located. I purchased a set of decals from Jensales and the decals have an adhesive on the back. Am I correct in assuming that getting the adhesive wet so that the decal can be easily positioned will not damage the ability for the adhesive to ultimately do its job of sticking to the tractor? I don't want to get a decal wet and ruin it if the decals used in the videos are special for that application. Any advice will be appreciated.

I'm pretty sure you can use the wet method with those. I believe they usually add a drop of liquid soap to the water. Make sure to squeegee the water out from under the decal when it is in the position you want. Then let dry, preferably in the sun for a day or two and you should be all set. If I am wrong, someone please correct me.

If 40 years ago, you guys are spot-on. 2 by 5 FOOT Toro decals were a snap on a vertical surface.
Using much more than a drop of Palmolive dish soap in water on both surfaces, squeegee it out and let dry.
Palmolive was our favorite. Very slippery.
I agree about soapy water so the decal can be slid into place without having to dare doing it dry.
I'd ask Jensales if the adhesive will tolerate soapy water for final placement, squeegee the soapy water out from underneath and presto.
A bubble can be dealt with after the fact, with a sharp blade, a finger or dull tool.
A fresh 602? Oh please show pics when you're done or yesterday. BIL had one. Nice tractors!

The milk hauler told me that when they buy new trucks and have their big name decal applied, the ''professionals'' use soapy water on the door then apply the decal right over it. By doing that, they can work the air bubbles out and move it around a little if need be. I tried it with the big red stripe decals on my White 2-135 and it worked like a dream. Not one bubble in that big decal. I've been using the soapy water method every since.

In answer to my own question - I called Jensales to find out their recommendation. The decals I have are vinyl - they sent me directions that include a statement - Do not get the decals wet. I was disappointed, however, I followed their application directions and they worked well and the decals look great. Thanks for your interest in solving my problem.

I think Mylar is the decals you use water with and the letter only stays on the metal. Vinyl is a strip that basically just stick down with glue and the clear part is not noticeable. Either way I like to position everything just perfect with tape to hold one edge in place and then activate the glue and squeege them down. I would like to see pictures as I have a M-602 with Decals and would like to see your results??? Cleddy
